what: African inspired patterns
Throughout my years of developing and generating patterns I have created numerous patterns that replicate traditional African patterns. Growing up in a household of Traditional and contemporary African Art, It inspired me to do art of my own. I have taken images of small parts of fabrics, sculptures, statues, clothing items and decorations and I have manipulated those images by cropping re-colouring, inverting, flipping and texturising them.
I wanted to create a sense of community through the production of these patterns by combining Traditional pieces of African Art and making them into contemporary versions of themselves.
